A few years ago I had the privilege to help compose, record, and edit an album for a group of four awesome Indian guys. Part of the project was spent immersing myself in not only their music but also their culture. I ended up falling in love with their music style and am planning on learning Hindi so I can make my own! This video above is their national anthem and is a collaboration of several different artists all across India. The main man behind the collaboration is A.R. Rahman, who is one of the most famous musical artists in India. He has written songs for many movies, most notably for us is Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours (If I Rise ft. Dido).
The video starts with an instrumental version play across several different instruments. The second part is the vocals. I love listening to the vocals because you can even hear variations among the different singers. Even though the original was written in Bengali, it can still be understood by many different Indic language speakers.
